
Under new legislation issued in February 2006, it is a requirement for all boat owners and recreational skippers in Western Australia to hold a recognised ticket referred to as the Recreational Skippers Ticket.
The RST is a government initiative to ensure a safer environment for all recreational skippers. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure has implemented this change to bring Western Australia into line with other States and Territories.

People aged between 14 and 25 must hold an RST in order to skipper an RST vessel
Over 25s will have until 1 April 2008 before they are required to hold an RST.
